Why I built this

I built DeskFit because I needed it.

I work from home, and I was sitting for three to four hours at a stretch. My lower back paid for it. I was spending hundreds of dollars a month on a physio and an osteopath and still not fixing the problem — I was even exercise and stretching each day. Still my lower back would hurt and blowout if I played an intense game of Padel!

What finally worked was embarrassingly simple: move every 20 minutes, consistently, every day. My osteopath recommended it, and it was a gamechanger. I set an alarm on my phone for every 20 minutes, got up, did some squats and walked around a bit.

The alarm worked, but nothing held me accountable and nothing tracked it. So I built the app I wanted: something that forces me up every 20 or 30 minutes and doesn't let me off until the reps are done.

My back issues have reduced significantly. I can keep playing padel at a high level, and I can hold and pick up my newborn without back discomfort or the feeling that I might give in if I move awkwardly. This app has helped me, and I know it will help millions of others in the same situation.

Frequency over intensity

Ninety seconds every twenty minutes beats an hour at the gym for a body that sits all day.

Accountability, not reminders

A reminder you can dismiss is a reminder you will dismiss. The reps have to be the off switch.

Your camera, your phone

Rep counting runs on-device. No frames leave your phone, and it works with no connection.
